WELCOME TO WWW.KEVINCHOWN.COM!!!!
Hello everyone!! Welcome to the long-awaited relaunch of my website, www.kevinchown.com. Before I get into what is new with me (and there is a TON of things happening!! WOW) let me start by welcoming you all and also by thanking two people who have helped me to get my site up and rocking again: Myla Eslayne and Julia Braga. I could not have done it without them!! THANKS you guys.
NOW, lets talk about me and whats been going on. First of all, as many of you know, 2013 has been one HELL of a ride for me and my health. I was just in the hospital for over a month while I was treated for a long term health issue: seizures. And I was fortunate to be a surgical patient of the USC Neurological team, whom just treated me for brain surgery!! I have been home since May 7th and with everyday, I am feeling MUCH better. It was NOT easy to go thru. First off, up until this year, I had never discussed with anyone what my health issues were...... so I disclosed my condition as the treatment started in January. And I was so fortunate to get so many amazing, loving and supportive thoughts from friends and fans from around the world. It made what I was about to start at the time an incredible source of strength. It meant so much to me.
As the time for my surgery got closer in April, I continued to hear from my friends, and once I was in the hospital (the term of which was nearly a MONTH!), the support that I continued to hear from everyone enabled me to feel the support and keep my sanity! I had electronic grids on my brain for testing, with wires coming out of my skull. I spent 3 full weeks directly connected to a computer, with each electronic activity from the brain itself being recorded to give the doctors the data they needed. I was at USC/Keck Hospital here in Los Angeles and was in Intensive Care for the entire time with my own personal nurse who watch every move I made. Documented everything I ate. My hourly blood pressure. My hourly pulse. My daily blood breakdown. Even my use of the toilet. And this went on for nearly an entire month!! To say it was insane would be an understatement. However, again with the encouragement of my wife, my family (especially my sister Amy), my Los Angeles friends who came to visit me and all of my world wide friends........and never to get my Escanaba crew. My god, thank you all. I could not have done it without each of you.
In addition to getting my health together, I have continued to do shows with The Bombastic Meatbats. We released our last CD "LIVE MEAT" late last year and it's about to come out in Japan though Chad has been a little busy with his day job with that somewhat well-known band called The Red Hot Chili Peppers. But we may have him back at their tour ends. More things will be coming up soon! Bleeding Harp with my dear friends always has some things coming up here in LA. Sarah and I will be in Esky this summer so hopefully we will see you yoopers and spend a little time celebrating Escanaba's history....... I'm still working with the one and only Ivan Kane on the Forty Deuce show in Atlantic City..... I did some great recording with Chris Herin, my long time friend from back in the Tiles days.....
But the thing that has REALLY been happening (other than brain surgery!) is that I just released my first vocal/rock EP "LIGHT THE WAY". I released the debut video May 13 for "WE LIGHT THE WAY" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLyNyUPlvhg) and it was first of all, so much fun to do it in the studio with my friends that I make music with (Angel, Jeff K, Jeff M, Adam.....) along with Dalen Muster shooting it for me and doing some great editing....... the man can make the most basic idea become so artistic....... people have really liked it and I think that for many people who dont know me for the performing that I have done as part of Tarja's band, it was a big surprise....... and I LOVED that. To the Tarja fans, so many of whom have practically made me a close friend and been so incredibly supportive, thanks for ALL of your kind words.
The EP is currently available digitally (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/light-the-way-ep/id645213806) but later this month, I will also be doing a release of the EP on CD as well. With every copy, I am personalizing the CD's to everyone, with a thank you and signature going out with each copy purchased. They can be purchased by making the payments on paypal (http://kevinchown.com/home/music) but for those of you whom dont like to use the internet for financial payments, I am accepting checks at the same PO BOX address that I have:
Kevin Chown Music, 14622 Ventura Blvd: Box 339, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
Later in 2013 once my health fully recovers will most likely put me back on the road again, which excites me a GREAT deal! I hope to get back out there, wherever you are in the world........and rock it out as hard as I can. I feel like after all I have been thru, I am so amazingly grateful just to be alive, let alone someone who has the most blessed life that is possible. Is life perfect? Of course not. Whose is, right? But I must say, after the challenges that I have survived, just the fact that I do what I do for a living makes me feel so damn lucky, you all have NO idea!! I made it thru one of the hardest challenges of my life. Now I just want to go back to the things that I have ALWAYS been so happy doing....... making music with my friends in various bands and musical projects anywhere in the world. How totally awesome is THAT, right?
Please stay in touch, check out my site, watch the video, download my EP and most of all..... come out and see me play live somewhere!!!
Sending everyone my best.
